TREMENDOUS TRISTAN IN TRONDHEIM

"Mild und leise..." In 2013 I was invited by the courageous Nicolas Mansfield to conduct TRISTAN UND ISOLDE for the Nederlandse Reisopera. It was such an important moment in my life. It led to my first contact with the famous RICHARD TRIMBORN, incomparable coach of many world-famous singers and conductors that I adore, and close friend to CARLOS KLEIBER. I studied this opera intensively with him - which transformed my musical approach to opera completely... as well as my life... It led also to my first contact with my friends of the Noord Nederlands Orkest, where I am at the moment in my 9th year as their Principal Guest Conductor (look out this season for MAHLER 5 and IVES 4...!).

In Trondheim I had the enormous privilege to come back to this universal piece, in the symphonic compilation of Henk de Vlieger. Beautiful and very emotional playing of the fantastic Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. And alongside the sensational voice and personality of Barbara Kozelj, who performed magnificently Berg's "7 frühe Lieder".

To be repeated with the Belgian National Orchestra in December, in Bozar - and partly with Orchestre National de Lyon.
